Beartooth: Die Tour mit Slipknot hat Caleb Shomos Leben verändert

Beartooth brachten anno 2014, gerade mal zwei Jahre nach ihrer Bandgründung, ihr Debütalbum „Disgusting“ auf den Markt. Und bereits ein Jahr später sollten sie dann im Vorprogramm einer der größten aktiven Metal-Bands spielen.

Zusammen mit Suicidal Tendencies wurde die Band um Frontmann Caleb Shomo dato nämlich als Support-Act für Slipknot gebucht. Corey Taylor und Co. brachten ebenfalls 2014 ihr Album „.5: The Gray Chapter“ und waren damit in den Staaten auf Tour.

Tour mit Slipknot hat Beartooth-Frontmann sichtlich beeindruckt

Shomo erinnerte sich jetzt in einem Interview in der Rockshow mit Daniel P. Carter bei BBC 1 Radio daran, wie die Tour mit Slipknot sein Leben verändert hat und wie sehr ihn das Erlebnis motiviert hat, mit der Musik weiter zu machen.

„For me on that tour with [Slipknot] – first off we got the offer I was like ‚Holy – what is happening? Like, we out out ONE album‘ […] And now we’re gotta open up this bill for one of the most die hard fanbases in music history and play before Suicidal [Tendencies] and Slipknot. How do I approach this?

Honestly, when I walked in the first day that all went away, because of how awesome [Slipknot‘s] crew was and all of [them] guys. I just couldn’t believe it. The amount of help was just everything dude. It felt like a family and I was so just not expecting that […].

And that tour like changed my life so much, because that was the first taste that I got. Like you can be one of the best [bands] and just be a normal person. That to me gave me so much drive to want to get to that place. So I could do the same for other young bands, because like I know how much it ruins tour when you have a dick headliner. It is the worst.“

Während des Interviews war übrigens auch Corey Taylor selbst anwesend und war sichtlich geschmeichelt von den Worten des Beartooth-Sängers.

Wir bekommen Beartooth und Slipknot nächstes Jahr hierzulande ebenfalls live zu sehen. Leider spielen die Bands zwar nicht gemeinsam, haben aber trotzdem satte Supports im Gepäck.

Slipknot kommen Anfang des Jahres mit Behemoth auf große Tournee (alle Termine findet ihr hier), während Beartooth die Jungs von The Amity Affliciton im Gepäck haben (die Live-Dates gibt’s hier).
