Senses Fail: Buddy Nielsen teilt Erinnerungen an My Chemical Romance

Der Beginn eines neuen Jahres ruft immer gerne das Bedürfnis hervor, sich zurückzuerinnern. So erging es jetzt auch Senses Fail-Frontmann James „Buddy“ Nielsen, der anno 2004 (und vielleicht auch heute noch) großer Fan von My Chemical Romance gewesen zu sein scheint.

In einem Instagram-Post gibt er sich dem Reunion-Feeling von MCR hin und erinnert sich an sein erstes Treffen mit Sänger Gerard Way. Sie kamen anno 2004, gerade mal einen Monat nachdem „Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge“ erschien, erstmals zusammen, als beide Bands bei der Vans Warped Tour spielten.

Zu dem Zeitpunkt befand sich die Band gerade an einem Wendepunkt in ihrer Karriere. Die Show, die Buddy Nielsen an besagtem Tag besuchte, war das Abschlusskonzert der damaligen Tour. Kurze Zeit später flatterten Gerard Way und Co. sogar über die Mattscheibe.

„Gerard of My Chemical Romance and I at Toad’s Place New Haven, CT summer 2004. Three Cheers had come out a month before. We both played half of Vans Warped Tour and jumped in a bus to tour home. The shows were mostly at 300 cap clubs and below and everyday we’d show up there would be a massive line already around the block. It was so amazing to be with them at such an monumental time in their career. They would go on to become the biggest band in the world and it was really just so special to see them realize that everything they ever wanted was happening right at that time. This was the last show of tour and the next time I saw them, a couple weeks later they were on TRL. The rest is history.“

Eine schöne Geschichte, die einmal mehr herausdeutet, welche Karriere My Chemical Romance hingelegt haben. Insgesamt vier Studioalben brachten sie auf den Markt, zuletzt 2010 die Platte „Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys“.

2013 lösten sie sich offiziell auf, um Ende letzten Jahres ihr Comeback zu verkünden. Im Dezember spielten sie ihre erste Show nach sieben Jahren Abstinenz in Los Angeles.
