As It Is kündigen ihr neues Album “I Went To Hell And Back” an

As It Is versüßen ihren Fans sogar mit doppelt schönen Neuigkeiten das Wochenende. Nicht nur droppten die Briten nach langwierigen Teasern endlich ihre nostalgische Single “I MISS 2003”, sondern verkündeten obendrein den Release einer neuen Platte.

“I WENT TO HELL AND BACK” heißt das kommende und somit vierte Studioalbum der Band, welches am 04. Februar 2022 via Fearless Records erscheinen wird.

Das 14-Track Paket kommt im Februar 2022

Leadsänger Patty Walters erläutert zur kommenden Platte:

“As profoundly pessimistic as this record sounds on the surface, it isn’t all doom and gloom. Feelings like sadness and hopelessness will eat you alive if you let them. I hope this record is there for anybody feeling as lousy or as inadequate as I was. “

Dabei fasst die Tracklist ganze 14 Songs und liest sich wie folgt:

Zu dem, was man von der Scheibe erwarten kann, ergänzt er weiterhin:

„‘I WENT TO HELL AND BACK’ feels like catching up with an old friend. We can talk about all the good and terrible things that have happened, and how we’ve grown from that. We’re not the same band and I’m sure our fans aren’t the same people they were last time we put out an album, but I hope they haven’t forgotten why we were friends in the first place.”

Die frohe Kunde kam zusätzlich zur Veröffentlichung von „I MISS 2003“, der somit bereits fünften Auskopplung nach „IDGAF”, “I Lie To Me” sowie zuletzt “ILY, HOW ARE YOU?” und “IDC, I CAN’T TAKE IT”. Übertrieben hat die Band keineswegs, als sie schrieb, dass die aktuelle Single „ihr Liebesbrief an die Szene“ sei.

Schließlich lädt der Singalong-Tune nicht nur mit musikalischen und visuellen Referenzen dazu ein, in Erinnerungen an die Emo- und Pop-Punk-Kultur von vor 18 Jahren zu schwelgen. Zudem wurden nämlich auf raffinierte Weise insgesamt 13 Easter Eggs in den Lyrics versteckt, die auf legendäre Bands aus der Zeit verweisen. Noch nicht alle entdeckt? „I MISS 2003“ ist der letzte Titel, der für den Longplayer aufgenommen wurde. Über die Thematik und den Songwriting-Prozess dahinter erzählt Patty:

​“Thematically, there was little left unsaid on the album, which is always a liberating feeling because no risk is off limits anymore. Why not write a love song about the bands that sparked a fire inside you? Why not decorate all the lyrics with band names and song titles? It was a true joy to write, and in its own weird way, it felt like we were writing this in the 2000s. So if you were there, we hope this song takes you back. And if you missed out, we hope this song makes you feel like you lived through it all with us.”
