Simple Plan melden sich mit „The Antidote“ zurück

Stolze 22 Jahre hat die legendäre Pop-Punk Konstellation Simple Plan bereits auf dem Buckel. Jetzt zeigen uns die Kanadier mit ihrer neuen Single “The Antidote”, dass sie ihren unverkennbaren Signature-Sound immer noch drauf haben.

Natürlich stehen für die Band ihre Fans auch nach all der Zeit immer noch an erster Stelle, wie sie auch für diese Veröffentlichung erläutern:

“The song is a throwback to our classic Simple Plan sound, but with a modern twist. It has all the elements our fans have come to love and expect from our band: a big, energetic chorus and honest and heartfelt lyrics that deal with life and the struggles we all face.”

Um sich bei ihrer treuen und geduldigen Fanbase zu bedanken, postete die Kombo ein paar persönliche Worte – von jedem einzelnen Bandmitglied versteht sich:

Obwohl der Track noch vor der Pandemie aufgenommen wurde, kommt er jetzt erst recht zur richtigen Zeit:

„We wrote and recorded the song before the pandemic hit, and in lots of ways, it has become even more relevant after everything that happened over the last 20 months. A lot of people are going through some tough times right now, and the song talks about how important it is to have someone or something to turn to when life gets really hard. It can be a life partner, a friend, a family member, something you love to do and are really passionate about. It doesn’t really matter, and it can be anything.“

Neue Single, neues Album, neue Ära

“It feels like the perfect starting point and a great preview of what’s to come on the album.”

Moment – “Album”?! Richtig gelesen, denn “The Antidote” ist der erste offizielle Vorgeschmack auf ihr neues und somit bis dato sechstes Studioalbum. Titel, Tracklist sowie Releasedatum sind bisher noch nicht bekannt.

Lang ist’s her, denn die aktuelle LP „Taking One for the Team“ erschien anno 2016. Es folgten einige Feature- und Kollaborationsprojekte, darunter der gemeinsame Track mit State Champs “Where I Belong” (feat. We The Kings), sowie 2018 ein Live-Album vom 15-jährigen Jubiläum ihres Debütwerks „No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls“.

Nach der Trennung von ihrem Bassisten David Desrosiers letzten Jahres ist die Gruppe nun zu viert unterwegs.
