Korn veröffentlichen ein Cover zu „The Devil Went Down To Georgia“ mit Yelawolf

Schon seit einer gefühlten Ewigkeit schwirrt in der Mottenkiste von Korn mindestens die Idee eines Cover-Albums herum. Gitarrist Brian „Head“ Welch erzählte dann vor kurzem, dass das gute Stück womöglich während der Corona-Quarantäne fertig wird.

Und eventuell ist genau das passiert. Denn die Truppe um Frontmann Jonathan Davis lässt jetzt einen ersten Cover-Track vom Stapel.

Dabei handelt es sich um eine „kornisierte“ Version des Songs „The Devil Went Down To Gerogia“, im Original von der Country-Truppe The Charlie Daniels Band aus dem Jahr 1998. Unterstützung holten sie sich dabei außerdem von Rapper Yelawolf, der 2017 bereits mit den Kaliforniern auf Tour war.

Jonathan Davis kommentierte die Entscheidung des Covers wie folgt:

„I’ve always said it, but country music is some of the darkest ever. Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and, of course, Charlie Daniels all turned pain into some really powerful music that sounded alive. ‘The Devil Went Down To Georgia‘ is a classic story, and we wanted to release it now to help others in need.“

Erst letztes Jahr brachten Korn ihr neues Studioalbum „The Nothing“ auf den Markt. Die Platte markiert den nunmehr 13. Longplayer der Band.

Im Sommer sollten sie eigentlich hierzulande auch live zu sehen sein. Sowohl die Headliner-Shows als auch der Auftritt bei Rock am Ring und Rock im Park wurden auf 2021 verschoben.
