Atreyu: Neues Material wird ab 2020 in Angriff genommen

Atreyu befinden sich derzeit für einige Festivalauftritte und Headliner-Shows in Europa auf Tour. Frontmann Alex Varkatzas musste wegen gesundheitlicher Probleme mit seinem Rücken alle bevorstehenden Konzerte absagen, was die restlichen Mitglieder jedoch nicht davon abhält, trotzdem die Bühne zu rocken.

Gitarrist Travis Miguel verriet in einem Interview mit der „Mike James Rock Show“ beim britischen Slam Dunk Festival vergangenen Monat, wie es um ein Nachfolgewerk des aktuellen Albums „In Our Wake“ steht, das die Kombo 2018 auf den Markt brachte.

So seien sie in den kommenden Monaten beinahe dauerhaft auf Tour. Auch seien weitere Headliner-Touren geplant, sodass sie in diesem Jahr nicht mehr an das Schreiben neuer Musik denken. Derzeit peilen sie eher nächstes Jahr an (via Blabbermouth).

„As of right now, we’re concentrating mostly on touring as much as we can. We have this European run… and then we go home for about a week and a half, and we have the ‚Disrupt‘ tour in the States. And that’ll bring us just before the fall, so we’ll have a little bit of time off. We’re planning on doing a headlining run, probably in North America, sometime in the fall. And then after that, possibly Australia. There’s talks of maybe going to South Africa, which would be awesome; we’ve never been there. So maybe after the New Year, we’ll probably start thinking about writing for a new album… By that time, we’ll be pretty fried from touring, and it’ll be a good time to start.“

Atreyu wollen sich weiter ausprobieren

Miguel gibt außerdem einen Kommentar dazu ab, in welche Richtung es musikalisch in Zukunft gehen soll und stellt dabei mögliche Überraschungen in Aussicht:

„We’re not a one-trick pony. We can do other things, and we’re going to do other things. ‚Cause if we were just repeating ourselves over and over again, it would get extremely boring for us as the band and probably for the listeners too. It would be like, Okay. Great. Here’s another ATREYU album. I know exactly what it’s gonna be.‘ And some bands can pull that off. But we wanna explore different things. […] It’s always good to not forget your past or deny your past, or whatever, but it’s also just as important, if not more important, to keep looking forward. And that’s pretty much our plan.“
