Mitglieder von Rammstein, Agnostic Front etc. covern The Beatles für Ukraine-Benefiz-Single

Mitglieder renommierter Bands wie Rammstein, Faith No More, Agnostic Front und mehr haben sich angesichts des Krieges in der Ukraine ein Herz gefasst und tun sich für eine Benefiz-Cover-Single zusammen. Die Wahl fiel auf den The Beatles Song „Come Together“. Ins Leben gerufen haben die Aktion Christian Petke vom Label COP International und der Musikproduzent John Fryer. Die beiden erklären in einem ausführlichen Statement, wie es zu der Idee kam:

„Several weeks ago, a humanitarian catastrophe of colossal proportions began to unfold before our very eyes. Like millions of others around the world, my friend John Fryer and I found ourselves overwhelmed with waves of shock, intense anger, and profound sadness as we watched the horrific events in Eastern Europe.

From those intense feelings, an idea was born. An idea that was inspired by Bob Geldof’s Live Aid concerts in the ’80s, and fed by our intense desire to be able to actively help our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and Eastern Europe.“

Das Ergebnis trägt den Namen „Come Together (We Will Stop You)“ und ist eine Cover-Version des Tracks „Come Together“ von den Beatles – mit einer kleinen Änderung. Statt wie im Original mit „Come together“ zu enden, bringen sie mit der Phrase „We Will Stop You“ noch eine klare Botschaft und Queen-Vibes mit rein.

Mit beteiligt an dem Projekt waren eine Vielzahl an Musiker:innen. Unter anderem Richard Kruspe, seines Zeichens Gitarrist von Rammstein, sowie Faith No More-Basser Billy Gould und Agnostic Front-Sänger Roger Miret.
