Rund acht Jahre machten sie gemeinsam Musik, doch jetzt gehen Loathe und Gründungsmitglied und Gitarrist Connor Sweeney getrennte Wege.

Loathe trennen sich von Gitarrist Connor Sweeney

Wie die Band und der Musiker über ihre Socials mitteilten, ist die gemeinsame Reise zu einem Ende gekommen. Die Band wünscht ihrem ehemaligen Kollegen alles Gute für die Zukunft und lässt zeitgleich wissen, dass sich bei den anstehenden Tour-Dates nichts ändert.

„Loathe regretfully announce the departure of Connor Sweeney. We would like to thank Connor for his contributions and commitment to Loathe over the years and wish him the best in his future endeavours. The remaining tour dates with While She Sleeps will continue as planned. Thank you for your continued support.“

Indes lässt auch Connor Sweeney selbst ein Statement los, das etwas mehr ins Detail geht und irgendwie nicht ganz so nach ausschließlich positiven Vibes klingt.

„Today I can’t believe I’m saying this, but with the largest stone in my throat and a leaden heart, I’ve decided to part ways with Loathe. Thank you to everyone who has ever supported me in this band and in music as it means everything to me. Without music i wouldn’t be alive. Seriously. ⁣
⁣
I am not dead musically as I have something I’m working on, that I will be putting what’s left of my heart and soul into after what has been a harrowing ordeal this past year. ⁣I thought some things might have changed with time within the band but unfortunately in this case things continued to stay the same. So as to preserve my own well being and mental health I have decided to leave.“

Der Gitarrist lässt auch wissen, dass er ein anderes Projekt für seine Fans habe, das er zeitnah bekanntgeben wird. Er bedankt sich bei einigen Crewmitgliedern und seinem ehemaligen Manager – nicht jedoch bei seinen ehemaligen Bandkollegen selbst.

So oder so wünschen wir Connor Sweeney nur das Beste.

Der Gitarrist war Gründungsmitglied von Loathe und seit 2014 Teil der Band und an allen bisherigen Release beteiligt. Anfang des Jahres erschien ein Instrumental-Album namens „The Things They Believe“. Zuvor brachten die Briten 2020 die Scheibe „I Let It In And It Took Everything“ auf den Markt.
