Die Meinungen über das aktuelle Machine Head-Album „Catharsis“ gehen teilweise weit auseinander. Das hat zumindest den Verkaufszahlen in Deutschland aber nicht geschadet. Wie die Band fröhlich postete, stieg das neue Werk bei uns auf Platz 3 ein. Wäre da nicht ein großes „Aber…“.

Machine Head in den USA nur auf Rang 65

In den Billboard 200 Charts ihres Heimatlandes konnte „Catharsis“ mit knapp 9.000 abgesetzten Exemplaren „nur“ auf Rang 65 einsteigen. An sich kein schlechter Wert. Im Vergleich zu früheren Werken aber ein massiver Rückschritt.

Zum Vergleich: Von „Bloodstone & Diamonds“ (2014) konnten bis zur Einstiegswoche mit 18.200 Einheiten knapp das Doppelte verkauft werden. Die Platte kletterte seinerzeit auf Platz 21. „Unto The Locust“ von 2011 war mit Platz 22 und 17.000 Exemplaren nur etwas dahinter.

Wir sind dennoch happy über den bemerkenswerten Charteinstieg in Deutschland und freuen uns auf die anstehende und nahezu ausverkaufte Tour in Kürze.
