The Ocean: Neues Album „Holocene“ erscheint im Mai

Knapp zweieinhalb Jahre ist es nun her, dass The Ocean ihr aktuelles Album „Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic“ auf den Markt gebracht haben. Mit „Preboreal“ gab’s dann vergangenen Monat eine erste neue Single zu hören – und auf diese folgt nun die Albumankündigung.

Die Scheibe hört auf den Namen „Holocene“ und erscheint am 19. Mai 2023 via Pelagic Records. Infos zu einer Tracklist gibt’s bislang noch nicht, doch mit dem Preorder-Start am 14. Februar gibt’s hier vielleicht schon mehr Infos.

Die neue Scheibe ist die Fortsetzung des letzten Albums, wie die Band in einem offiziellen Statement klarmacht:

„[…] Holocene adds a closing chapter to our palaeontology-inspired album series, and presents a gear shift towards electronic realms while exploring new depths of heaviness at the same time.

Phanerozoic II ended with a track titled ‘Holocene‘, and that was pointing in the direction of things to come, both conceptually and musically. The track Holocene ends abruptly and yet connects seamlessly with the beginning of the new album, the synths of opener ‘Preboreal‘, which we released as the first single off the album 2 weeks ago. This is only the very beginning of a journey which once more will end in a very different place than where it began… […]“

Wir freuen uns auf weitere Infos und hoffen, dass auch die nächste Single in nicht mehr allzu weiter Ferne ist.

Das bevorstehende neue Werk stellt den nunmehr zehnten Longplayer von The Ocean dar, wenn man das instrumentale Mini-Album „Fogdiver“ von 2003 als Debüt zählt.
