Slipknot-Sänger Corey Taylor kotzt sich über die „Donda 2“-Verkaufsstrategie von Kanye West aus

Slipknot– und Stone Sour-Frontmann Corey Taylor ist nicht amused – und zwar von Kanye West. Letzterer veröffentlichte im Februar sein Album „Donda 2“ und zwar exklusiv für ein Streaming-Gerät, den sogenannten Stem Player, das man für 200 US-Dollar erwerben muss, um die Songs von „Donda 2“ überhaupt zu hören.

Corey ist davon ganz und gar nicht begeistert. In einem neuen Interview mit Metro macht er seinem Unmut über diese – sagen wir – Verkaufsstrategie des US-Rappers Luft. Doch nicht nur das, er bezeichnet Kanye West als Idioten und sagt, er wäre „daneben“.

„It’s like releasing all the parts for a car and sending them to people’s houses and going there, you got a free car, now you’ve got to figure out how to build the goddamn thing. You’re assuming that the audience has the access and same technology that you have but you’re a fucking moron for doing that. Are you serious? It doesn’t work that way. The thinking that that’s a smart thing to do just shows you how convoluted and off the fucking property Kanye West really is.“

Dass man überhaupt auf eine solche Idee käme, bezeichnet Corey Taylor als Luxusproblem. Weiterhin sei er sich sicher, dass Slipknot dafür verhöhnt werden würden und Kanye West stattdessen als Genie für seine Idee angesehen wird.

„If we did that, we would be fucking demonized but I guarantee people are looking at him like he’s a genius, and it’s, like, for fuck’s sake, pull your head out of your ass, put it on CDs and just fucking give it to people. If you want to do that, put it together in a way that people can actually listen to it. It’s such fucking horseshit.“

Gemeinsam mit Slipknot arbeitet Corey Taylor derzeit auch am neuen Album. Die Scheibe soll noch vor dem Sommer erscheinen und wir sind uns relativ sicher, dass die Maskenkombo das Stück NICHT über ein exklusives Streaming-Gadget an den Start bringen wird. Und das ist auch gut so.
