Metallica spenden 250.000 US-Dollar für die Opfer der Waldbrände in Kalifornien

Die Mannen von Metallica sind sich nie zu schade, etwas für den guten Zweck zu tun. So spendeten sie z.B. während der vergangenen „WorldWired“ Welttournee in jeder Stadt, in der sie Halt machten, für einen guten Zweck.

Nun spenden James Hetfield und Co. für die Opfer der Waldbrände in Kalifornien. Seit Wochen schon wüten die Brände an der Westküste der USA und zerstörten nicht nur unzählige Hektar Land, sondern auch die Existenz vieler Menschen.

Die Band aus Los Angeles zählt Kalifornien ebenfalls zu ihrer Heimat und spendete nun 250.000 US-Dollar aus der bandeigenen „All Within My Hand“ Foundation für die Opfer der Brände und rufen dazu auf, ebenfalls zu spenden. Dazu sagten die Musiker:

„Wildfires have become a cruel and unwelcome annual benchmark in California, and this year we have seen them tragically extend across the entire west coast of our country. This is the fourth consecutive year, dating back to the formation of the Foundation, that All Within My Hands has activated to support fire relief: the critical local services component of our mission.

This year, we will be donating a sum of $250,000 to five organizations on the front line of this environmental crisis that has made its way into the lives and homes of far too many. The organizations include the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund, the Oregon Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund, the Community Foundation Santa Cruz County’s Fire Response Fund, the North Valley Community Foundation Wildfire Relief and Recovery Fund, and the Community Foundation of North Central Washington NCW Fire Relief Fund.

We would like to encourage you to join us in supporting those in need and our first responders in any way you can by donating money, non-perishable food, clothing and other supplies, or by giving your time volunteering or providing safe, temporary housing. Every little bit helps.“

Metallica spendeten bereits in der Vergangenheit für in Mitleidenschaft gezogene Menschen der kalifornischen Waldbrände. 2018 und 2019 nahmen sie jeweils 100.000 US-Dollar aus dem Pool ihrer Foundation.

Vor drei Jahren spielten sie außerdem bei einer Charity-Veranstaltung zugunsten der Opfer der Waldbrände im US-Bundesstaat Kalifornien.

Sicherlich habe nicht alle Bands die Mittel, die James Hetfield und seinen Mannen zur Verfügung stehen; die Anzahl und vor allem Höhe der karitativen Erlöse sind aber schon eine echte Hausnummer.
