Fear Factory: Dino Cazares kommentiert den Ausstieg von Frontmann Burton C. Bell

Fear Factory-Frontmann und -Gründungsmitglied Burton C. Bell verkündete Anfang der Woche seinen Ausstieg aus der Band. Als Grund nannte er Unstimmigkeiten innerhalb der Band und zum neuen Album. Rechtsstreitigkeiten hätten dafür gesorgt, dass er sich zunehmend unwohl gefühlt habe. An den Arbeiten zum neuen Album sei er nicht weiter beteiligt.

Nun kommentiert Dino Cazares im Podcast „No Fucking Regrets With Robb Flynn“ mit Machine Head-Frotmann Robb Flynn den Ausstieg seines ehemaligen Kollegen. Demnach habe er auch erst öffentlich von seinem Weggang erfahren.

Vieles von dem, was Bell in seinem Statement als Grund nannte, entspreche nicht der Wahrheit. Er selbst habe nicht gewollt, dass er die Band verlässt. Auch wenn die Beziehung der beiden nicht immer die beste war, wollte er weiter mit ihm zusammenarbeiten.

„So for me, Burt announcing that he’s leaving the band and a lot of the things that he said in his announcement, all I can say is go look up the public court record and there you will find the truth of how all this transpired.

Now for me, I didn’t want him to leave the band. I wanted him to stay in the band and let’s continue and lets go work, that’s how I look at it. We got a record that’s coming out, next year. And when the touring opens up, let’s get out there and work.

[…] We don’t have a perfect relationship, not a lot of bands do… Again, I want to put this record out, get back to work like everybody else. Get out there and tour, hopefully he’ll get past that, whatever he’s going through and we can do it. But if not, if not, and he still chooses to not be in the band, then I gotta earn a living, you know what I mean?“

Schon in der Vergangeneheit habe oft Funkstille zwischen Cazares und Bell geherrscht. Er gebe ihm den Freiheit, doch er wisse nicht, wie es weitergehen soll.

„You know it’s sad right now, maybe for some people. But I kinda saw this coming when he… during his whole court proceedings to the end, he kind of just went super private. [He] didn’t want to return anybody’s texts, emails, you know.

So I kinda got the message that maybe he was going through some shit and that he needed some time. It’s not the first time he’s done that. He’s done it in the past as well. Way back in 2011 we were doing a record called ‚The Industrialist‘ and he kind of just disappeared and he was working on one of his other projects at the time.

I’m into giving people their space. I get it. It’s been thirty years, we’re on the same bus together for 24 hours a day and some people when they get home, they just want to go… and do their own thing, they need to get away from you for a little while.“

Burton C. Bell war Gründungsmitglied und seit 1989 – mit Ausnahme der Bandpause – durchgängig Teil von Fear Factory. Er war an allen Alben beteiligt. Zuletzt brachten sie gemeinsam 2015 ihre aktuelle LP „Genexus“ auf den Markt.

Für die neue Scheibe launchte Dino Cazares eine Crowdfunding-Kampagne, von der sich Bell bereits vor einer Weile distanzierte.
