Mastiff präsentieren ihre neue Single „Midnight Creeper“
Aus dem bevorstehenden Album.
Julia L. ist die zweite Julia im MoreCore-Bunde und ergänzt das Team gerne mit Rezensionen, News, Live-Berichten sowie kleineren und größeren Schreibarbeiten. Als Germanistin aus dem schönen Hessen ist sie ständig hin- und hergerissen zwischen “da ist ein grammatikalischer Fehler im Satz!” und “am liebste tät isch de ganze Tach nur hessisch babbele”. Tippt sie nicht gerade wie wild auf der Tastatur rum, um irgendetwas zu Papier zu bringen, findet man sie gerne mit ihrem Hund im Feld oder auf Shows und Konzerten im Rhein-Main-Gebiet. Für einige Bands fährt sie aber auch gerne mal nach NRW, Rheinland-Pfalz, Bayern oder Baden-Württemberg. Autofahren tut sie auch besonders gerne und hat dabei am liebsten gute Musik laufen. Leider will wegen der bei ihren Freunden verhassten “Schreimusik” kaum jemand mitfahren. Umso besser, denn dann hört niemand, wie schief sie mitsingt!
Nächste Woche bringen Mastiff ihr neues Album „Leave Me The Ashes Of The Earth“ auf den Markt. Um auch die letzten paar Tage Wartezeit noch zu überbrücken, gibt es kurz vor knapp eine weitere Single auf die Lauscher.
Nach „Repulse“ und „Endless“ gibt’s jetzt „Midnight Creeper“ zu hören. Der Track kommt natürlich auch mit einem passenden Musik-Video daher. In Gänze steht der Output natürlich nachfolgend bereit.

Die Band hatte zum neuen Song übrigens folgende Worte parat:
„Our mindset when writing ‘Midnight Creeper‘ was something along the lines of, ‘what if Will Haven was a grindcore band?,’ and we’re pretty happy with the results. The song originally had a whole extra part at the end, but after months of sitting on the song during the first lockdown in 2020, we revisited it and realized it was totally not needed, and that the grind part that ends the song now was a far more fitting way to disorient and bamboozle people.”
Lyrically, ‘Midnight Creeper’ is one of the more personal and angry tracks on Leave Me… and deals pretty directly with a person who was very close to the band and that we all considered a friend, who was unceremoniously outed as a predator and a liar. The feeling of disgust and betrayal within our musical community hung over us for a long time and we wanted to make a clear statement that we stand behind victims, we abhor abusers, and that consent is everything. That we picked one of our most brutal songs to convey that message seemed fitting, really.“

Beim bevorstehenden neuen Album handelt es sich um den dritten Longplayer von Mastiff. Der Vorgänger „Plague“ erschien 2019. 2016 debütierten die Briten mit „Wrank“.
