Emmure: Frontmann empfindet 30% aller Songs als Müll

Bereits am 03. März veröffentlichen EMMURE ihr neues Album „Look At Yourself“ und gerade durch die – Frontmann Frankie Palmeri mal ausgenommen – komplett ausgetauschte Mitglieder-Riege darf man gespannt sein, was einen erwartet.

Palmeri gab sich nun in einem Interview mit „Wall of Sound“ erstaunlich selbstkritisch in Bezug auf die bisherigen Ergüsse des Projekts. Gleich 30% des kompletten Song-Katalogs emfindet er demnach als „Müll“, betont dabei aber auch, dass dies nicht die Art von Songs waren, die auf seinem Mist gewachsen sind, sondern eher das Resultat von Kompromissen, die er im Austausch mit früheren Bandmitgliedern gemacht habe. „Look At Yourself“ soll völlig frei davon sein,

“I was actually able to see my vision completely come to life rather than having to sit there and compromise with people who are not as competent and don’t understand what it should sound like. Not to say Emmure didn’t have any good songs, but 70% of Emmure’s catalogue I think is good. I enjoy it. Then there’s 30% of it that I think is trash and that 30% is what I never wanted on the albums to begin with.”

Die schlechteste Platte von EMMURE? Wenn es nach Frankie Palmeri geht, dann ist es das 2012er-Werk „Slave To The Game“, welches er wirklich gar nicht mag. Er fühle sich sogar „schlecht“ dabei, dass er dieses Album zugelassen hat – angeblich auch eine Zeit, in der intern wirklich alles desaströs aussah und niemand miteinander ein Wort gewechselt habe. Kein Wunder, dass auch die Fans diese non-existente Chemie mitbekamen – das Album war ein kommerzieller Flop:

“The songs suck. It’s just not good. None of the riffs are good. I just don’t like it. I feel bad ‘cause I let that record happen. We were at a very terrible place internally, like no one was talking at all. The album was a commercial failure, and of course it was. I wasn’t surprised at all. It was the kind of thing where I shot myself in the foot to prove a point.”

Wir hoffen inständig, dass alle Beteiligten mit „Look At Yourself“ zufrieden sind und sich Palmeri hoffentlich nicht schon wieder bald eine neue Kombo zusammenstellen muss. Die bisherigen Auskopplungen der Scheibe haben wir hier für euch beigefügt.
