Bowling For Soup geben unverblümt zu: „I Wanna Be Brad Pitt“

Darauf muss man in unseren Szenekreisen auch erst einmal kommen: Ein gesungenes Tribut für einen gestandenen Hollywood-Schauspieler wie Brad Pitt. Die Punkrocker von Bowling For Soup haben genau das jetzt abgeliefert.

Ideengeber war dabei ausgerechnet Frontmann Jaret Reddick selbst, dem der Refrain der dato noch unfertigen Nummer tagelang im Kopf herumschwirrte – da war der Rest der Lyrics quasi ein Klacks:
„Everyone who knows me, knows I love Brad Pitt. I got this chorus in my head while driving one day, and really, the rest kinda just wrote itself. I wanted the song to be a thoughtful tribute and not sacrifice the homage by making fun of him or things in his life. So that’s the direction I went and when it still got laughs from the band, I knew I had hit it out of the park.“

Gegründet hat sich das US-amerikanische Kollektiv aus Wichita Falls, Texas im Jahr 1994. Zehn Studioalben hat uns die Band in ihrer bisherigen Schaffenszeit kredenzt.
Nummer elf erwartet uns übrigens am 22. April 2022 und nennt sich „Pop Drunk Snot Bread“.
