The Word Alive trennen sich von zwei ihrer Mitglieder

Am gestrigen Freitag erst brachten The Word Alive ihre neue Single „Wonderland“ an den Start und schienen damit den Beginn einer neuen Ära einzuläuten. Das ist auch richtig, doch leider ist es ein für viele Fans sicherlich trauriger Neuanfang.

Wie die Band nämlich kurz nach Release des Songs wissen ließ, habe man sich einvernehmlich von Gitarrist Tony Pizzuti und Drummer Matt Horn getrennt.

In einem ausführlichen Statement lässt die Formation wissen, dass sich für die beiden Musiker während der Pandemie neue Möglichkeiten aufgetan haben. Ab sofort gehe man also getrennte Wege; bei der aktuellen Single seien jedoch noch alle vier Mitglieder beteiligt gewesen.

„For the last 18+ months we’ve dreamed of reuniting on stage to perform for you all. We’ve spent countless hours working on new music, live streams for you & connecting in ways we never envisioned while the world stopped. Through that time we’ve all grown & changed in many ways. It is in that spirit that we announce a lineup change to The Word Alive. It’s bitter sweet because while we’ve loved every special memory we share w/ both Tony/Matt & couldn’t have made it this far without their dedication & passion for the band, to our message & the fans first & foremost, we must support their decision to pursue other opportunities life has presented them. We have so much love for them as it is w/ any previous member of The Word Alive, our goal is to always push forward with love, gratitude and a brotherhood that has always extended beyond all else. We want to wish them the very best as they explore the next stages of their lives. Thanks Tony/Matt for the years of blood, sweat & tears you gave this band, we’re happy to cheer you on.“

Eine offizielle Nachfolge scheint es noch nicht zu geben, doch für die anstehenden Live-Termine springen Tyler William Ross (Being As An Ocean) und Maty Madiro (From Ashes To New) ein.

Wir wünschen allen Beteiligten nur das Beste für die neuen Wege.

Nach dem Weggang von Tony Pizzuti und Matt Horn bestehen The Word Alive derzeit noch aus Sänger Tyler „Telle“ Smith und Gitarrist Zack Hansen. Tony Pizzuti war seit 2008 und somit seit der Gründung Teil der Band, Matt Horn hingegen seit 2018 fester Bestandteil und seit 2012 hin und wieder schon als Tour-Mitglied dabei.
