System Of A Down haben mit ihren Songs 600.000 US-Dollar für den Armenia Fund gesammelt

Relativ überraschend haben sich System Of A Down vergangene Woche mit zwei neuen Songs namens „Protect The Land“ und „Genocidal Humanozid“ zurückgemeldet. Die beiden Tracks erreichten uns aus einem eher unschönen und vor allem ernsten Thema: Die Band will auf den Krieg im Kaukasus aufmerksam machen.

Serj Tankian und Co. riefen dazu auf, die Songs auf Bandcamp zu erwerben, da sie die Einnahmen hieraus komplett an den Armenia Fund spenden. Scheinbar mit Erfolg: Nach nicht mal einer Woche konnte die Band sage und schreibe 600.000 US-Dollar sammeln.

Ob uns demnächst noch mehr neue Musik erreicht, ist übrigens nach wie vor unklar. Die beiden neuen Songs stellten den ersten Output der Kombo seit 2005 dar. Dato brachten System Of A Down bekanntlich ihre beiden Alben „Mezmerize“ und „Hypnotize“ auf den Markt.

Kommendes Jahr kommen wir zumindest in den Genuss von zwei Performances bei Rock am Ring und Rock im Park. Die Headliner-Show, die zusätzlich für dieses Jahr angesetzt war, fällt zunächst gänzlich aus. Ob es 2021 Ersatz geben wird, ist noch nicht klar.
