Slipknot-Frontmann Corey Taylor lässt kein gutes Haar an Machine Gun Kelly

Dass Slipknot-Frontmann Corey Taylor und Machine Gun Kelly wohl in diesem Leben nicht mehr die besten Freunde werden, wissen wir spätestens seit dem Riot Fest im vergangenen Jahr. Dato pöbelte MGK öffentlich gegen die Maskenkombo, die bei besagtem Festival zeitgleich mit ihm einen Auftritt hatte.

Corey selbst äußerte sich kurz danach dazu und ließ wissen, dass MGK vielleicht ein Problem mit ihm hätte, weil er sich weigerte, ein Feature auf dessen aktuellem Album „Tickets To My Downfall“ zu singen.

Corey Taylor eröffnet erneut das Feuer gegen Machine Gun Kelly

Ein paar Spitzen hier und da gab es noch, doch dann beruhigte sich die Fehde. Nun greift Corey selbst bei einem Q&A während seines Auftritts beim „ShipRocked“ aber einmal mehr die Thematik auf und legt dar, wie das Ganze anfing.

So behaupte Machine Gun Kelly laut Corey Taylor, dass der Slipknot-Frontmann mit der Streiterei angefangen hätte. Corey behauptet das Gegenteil und erläutert einmal mehr, dass MGK sauer wäre, weil er den Feature-Beitrag auf dessen Album abgelehnt habe.

„[…] they asked me to do a tune with him. They sent it to me. I didn’t dig it. And I tried to do something with it because of my respect for Travis, because he and I worked together before. They sent me these really weird notes and they wanted me to sing his words. And I just said, ‘I’m not gonna do it.’ And I sent an e-mail. I posted that e-mail. And I didn’t hear back from him. And I thought it was done.“

Nachdem man nun also dachte, die Streiterei sei vorbei, lästerte MGK kurze Zeit später in einem Interview mit Spotify über Rockstarts mit bequemen Schuhen zu lästern. Corey Taylor griff das als Angriff gegen sich selbst auf und holte zum Gegenschlag aus.

„And he goes off on this fucking rant about rock stars and comfortable shoes. It sounds as smart as you think it is. … I mean, spit was coming out of his face.

And I’m watching it and I’m going, ‘You fuck. You’ve been here for five minutes, basically, and you’re gonna fucking run your mouth about bands that have been doing this for 20 fucking years, like in the mud, in the dirt. They’re gonna wear whatever the fuck they want. You’re gonna walk in here with your fucking black tongue and try to talk some shit on some bands that would fucking circle your ass? Fuck you.’ So when I had my opportunity to say something, I did. And I didn’t call him out.“

Der Slipknot-Frontmann ist „not amused“

So sagte Corey Taylor damals in einem Interview, dass er Leute nicht möge, die in einem Genre scheitern und sich in einem anderen versuchen und dann so tun, als hätten sie die Formel neu erfunden. Natürlich griff MGK das als Rant gegen sich selbst auf… und so würde aus verletzterer Eitelkeit ein waschechter Rosenkrieg.

„I just said what I said about people failing in one genre and sliding over to another. And that upset him. Weirdly, we’re in Chicago on the same show, and we’re playing basically at the same time. And he wasn’t happy that there were a lot of people at our show — and I do mean a lot.

But he, to this day, maintains that I started it. It’s, like, the only reason I said what I said is because he said what he said. You don’t get to walk into a genre with the history, with the work… The fact that this genre really doesn’t get the fucking respect that it deserves.“

Besonders freundlich wird’s zum Schluss dann auch nicht mehr, ganz im Gegenteil. Corey Taylor lässt ganz deutlich wissen, was er von Machine Gun Kelly und dessen Meinung zu Musik hält.

„You don’t get to walk in as some weird substitute teacher and pretend that you can tell us what to wear — boots, shoes, house fucking shoes, slippers. Why don’t you suck every inch of my dick? You don’t get to do that.“

Die entsprechenden Äußerungen filmte ein Fan übrigens und stellte sie… sagen wir mal „freundlicherweise“ ins Netz.

Wir haben IRGENDWIE das Gefühl, dass die Antwort von Machine Gun Kelly nicht allzu lange auf sich warten lässt. Bis dahin hatte zunächst mal der Slipknot-Frontmann das letzte Wort. Doch sicherlich wird der Gegenschlag gegen Corey Taylor nicht allzu lange dauern…
