Slipknot: Ex-Drummer Joey Jordison reflektiert das Debütalbum der Band zum 21. Geburtstag der Platte

Das Selftitled-Debütalbum von Slipknot wird in diesem Jahr bereits 21 Jahre alt. Ex-Drummer Joey Jordison nimmt das Jubiläum des Erstlinsgwerks zum Anlass, ein bisschen zu sinnieren. Auf Instagram reflektiert er das Debütwerk und wird fast ein bisschen wehmütig.

It’s almost hard to believe how these years have flown by like blast beats. That album was & will always be some of the absolute best memories of my life. There’s nothing out there quite like it, and what it did for all of us & the Metal world. It made all of our dreams come true, and the overall reaction from the fans almost collapsed venues & stadiums worldwide. We didn’t expect it, but it absolutely exploded! We were so determined, hungry, and ready to take on the world and we did. We feared no one, and it showed when we took the stage. It was just ‘that’ time. Total mystery it was. Jordison, der von 1995 bis 2013 Teil der maskierten Kombo war, veröffentlichte ingesamt vier Studioalben mit seiner Band, zuletzt 2008 „All Hope Is Gone“. Die Veröffentlichung des Selftitled-Debüts beschreibt er in seinem Rückblick als mitunter besten Moment seines Lebens.

Für ihn war die Platte wegweisend für die Band und den Metal.

Das Debütwerk ist bis heute – nicht zuletzt natürlich auch in Anbetracht der Tatsache, dass es die älteste und damit die am längsten auf dem Markt befindliche Scheibe ist – das meistverkaufte Album der Kombo.

Nachdem Slipknot und Jordison getrennte Wege gingen, veröffentlichten sie mit ihrem neuen Schlagzeuger Jay Weinberg zwei weitere Alben. 2015 erschien „.5: The Gray Chapter“ sowie vergangenes Jahr die aktuelle Platte „We Are Not Your Kind“.

Mit letzterer war die Kombo um Frontmann Corey Taylor hierzulande Anfang des Jahres auf Tour. Im August sollten sie eigentlich wieder live bei uns zu sehen sein, doch wegen der Coronakrise fallen die Shows ins Wasser.

Während der Auftritt beim Wacken Open Air bereits abgesagt wurde, sind zu den beiden Headliner-Shows noch keine weiteren Infos bekannt.
