Slipknot: „All Out Life“ passt nicht zur Story von „We Are Not Your Kind“

Slipknot veröffentlichten vor knapp zwei Wochen ihren neuen Song „Unsainted“ und kündigten im Zuge dessen auch direkt ihr neues Studioalbum „We Are Not Your Kind“ an.

Auch die Tracklist des neuen Werks präsentierten die maskierten Mannen und aufmerksamen Maggots sollte aufgefallen sein, dass der vergangenes Jahr veröffentlichte Song „All Out Life“ nicht Teil des Albums ist.

Frontmann Corey Taylor erklärte in einem Interview mit den Kollegen von Kerrang!, wieso der Song nicht in der Tracklist enthalten ist.

Eigene Geschichte für neues Slipknot-Album

So sei „All Out Life“ lediglich ein kleines Lebenszeichen der Band gewesen, würde aber nicht zur Story von „We Are Not Your Kind“ passen (via Kerrang).

„[All Out Life isn’t on the album] from a standpoint of it was kind of its own thing that really just let people know that we weren’t gone, and that we were still looking forward and working on music. It was just such a catchy song that it made sense to release it. But now, in context with the story that we’re telling [on We Are Not Your Kind], we weren’t sure if we were going to put it on there.“

Dennoch – durch die Textzeile „We are not your kind“ hat der Song eben doch eine Verbindung zur neuen LP von Slipknot, trägt sie doch genau diese Phrase als Titel. Für Corey Taylor sei die Phrase zuerst lediglich eine coole Live-Sache gewesen. Und je mehr darüber nachgedacht habe, desto mehr hätte sich selbige verselbständigt und daher auch den Titel des Albums verdient:

„I didn’t think it would be anything more than a great chant at a concert. was one of the things in my head that I could hear 50,000 people screaming at the top of their lungs, pumping fists. It wasn’t so much that I thought it was benign or anything – it was definitely something that I thought, ‘This could be something really cool’ – but it took on a life of its own, and that’s when I really started thinking about the phrase; about how it could be perceived.“

„All Out Life“ bleibt Standalone-Single

„We Are Not Your Kind“ erscheint am 09. August. Neben der ersten Single-Auskopplung „Unsainted“ enthält das nunmehr sechste Studioalbum von Slipknot 13 weitere neue Songs.
