„Ich denke, dass 2022 das Jahr sein wird, in dem alles zum Normalzustand zurückkehrt“ – Sick Of It All-Frontmann Lou Koller glaubt nicht an nächstes Jahr

Sick Of It All waren im Herbst vergangenen Jahres zusammen mit Comeback Kid und Cancer Bats hierzulande noch live zu sehen. Wann wir endlich wieder in den Genuss kommen, steht derzeit natürlich noch in den Sternen. Schuld ist – wie soll es auch anders sein – die Coronavirus-Pandemie.

Vor allem Frontmann Lou Koller ist skeptisch. In einem neuen Interview mit Poisoned Rock sagte der Sänger nun, dass er nicht glaubt, vor 2022 wieder normale Shows spielen zu können.

Alternativen seien für ihn keine Option in den Genres, in denen sich seine Band bewegt.

„We have tours booked for next year here in the States and in Europe. Everything’s been shifted from this year to next year, but I don’t know if it’s gonna come through yet. I’m banking that I think 2022 will be the year that everything starts to get back to normal. ‚Cause personally, if they allow us to tour, but they say, ‚Okay, but you can only have half the amount of people. Everything has to stand…‘ I’ve seen videos of bands doing shows — there was a metal band called THUNDERMOTHER or MOTHER THUNDER, and I couldn’t believe it. I’m watching these people on stage playing great music going wild, and the people are sitting in little corrals separated from each other just staring. It’s, like, that’s not rock and roll; that’s not metal.“

Wir hoffen natürlich, dass Lou Keller nicht Recht behält. Letztlich gilt aber natürlich „Safety First“. Und in Anbetracht des Infektionsgeschehens heißt es wohl lieber noch einen Moment länger warten als zu wenig.

Vielleicht können Sick Of It All die Live-Pause ja für neue Musik nutzen. Die Kombo brachte zuletzt Ende 2018 ihre aktuelle Scheibe „Wake The Sleeping Dragon!“. Die Scheibe markiert den nunmehr zwölften Longplayer der Hardcore-Truppe.
