Papa Roach über das neue Album: „Wir sind durch Himmel und Hölle gegangen“

Papa Roach wollen nächstes Jahr endlich ihr neues Album an den Start bringen. Die Scheibe entstand bereits 2020 während der Corona-Downtime, doch da gut Ding bekanntlich Weile haben will, müssen wir uns noch ein klein wenig gedulden.

Bassist Tobin Esperance verriet vor kurzem, dass die Scheibe insgesamt 14 Songs enthalten soll. Nun plaudert auch Jacoby Shaddix ein wenig aus dem Nähkästchen und lässt in einem Interview mit Dammy Wimmer Presents einige Details vom Stapel.

Neues Album von Papa Roach sei „Grammy-würdig“

Demnach bezeichnet er die neue Scheibe sogar als „Grammy-würdig“ und ist maßlos begeistert von den Stücken der Scheibe.

„We’re always trying to raise the bar. We’re always trying to bring rock into the future. We’re always trying to be ahead of the game and come original with it. And sometimes we hit the mark and sometimes we miss it. But I’m telling you, this time I think we nailed it, man. I’m just over the moon. I’ll say it, if we ever made a Grammy-worthy rock album, this is it — straight up.“

Der Entstehungsprozess sei – Corona-bedingt – dabei alles andere als einfach und sogar sehr emotional gewesen. Demnach sei ihnen während des Lockdowns die Decke auf den Kopf gefallen und alle seien fast durchgedreht. Man habe sich deshalb entschieden, sich gemeinsam in Quarantäne zu begeben und für das neue Album einzuschließen.

„I think the process of making this record, we kicked it off the right way,“ he continued. „We were locked up in quarantine, and we just kept FaceTiming with each other, calling each other, like, ‚Dude, I’m going crazy.‘ Tobin [Esperance, PAPA ROACH bassist] hits me up, ‚Bro, what are we gonna do, man? We’ve gotta do something. We’ve gotta get creative.‘ And so we all locked up in this house down south in a place called Temecula and stayed there for a month and just started writing music. And it was like a floodgate opened.“

Eine intensive Albumproduktion

Die Produktion des Albums sei sehr spannend und effizient gewesen, da man sich vollends auf die Platte konzentrieren konnte. Danach sei man aber völlig am Ende und ausgelaugt gewesen. Für das neue Material sei man durch Himmel und Hölle gegangen.

„And it was, like, 24-7 — literally there was music happening for the better part of 24 hours a day, whether it’s editing or engineering or writing or recording or tracking. And by the time we got done with this process at this house, we all left like we were just destroyed. We had no energy left […]. And a lot of walls came down emotionally between us and it really made for great music. And we aired some grievances in the process and really got through some stuff together and came out on the other side of the process of this record feeling like, ‚Man, we just went through hell and heaven to make this record. We’ve got something special.‘ And it’s just really exciting.“

Das bevorstehende Album stellt den nunmehr elften Longplayer von Papa Roach dar. Zuletzt erschien 2019 die aktuelle Platte „Who Do You Trust?“. Erstmals erscheint die Platte über das bandeigene Label.

Mit „Kill The Noise“, „Dying To Believe“ sowie „Swerve“ mit Fever 333-Frontmann Jason Butler und Sueco haben wir bereits drei Singles zu hören bekommen.
