Okilly Dokilly: „Simpsons“-Band geht in eine unbestimmte Pause

2015 haben sich Okilly Dokilly gegründet und es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht, als „Simpsons“-liebende Metal-Band bestimmte Episoden und Zitate der erfolgreichen Zeichentrickserie in ihrer Musik aufzugreifen.

Diese Motivation mündete in den beiden Studioalben „Howdilly Doodilly“ von 2016 und schließlich „Howdilly Twodilly“ aus dem Jahr 2019. Und wie es aussieht, wird es dabei wohl auch bleiben.

Die Band um Frontmann „Head Ned“ kündigte jetzt eine US-Abschiedstour für 2022 an, nach deren Abschluss man das Projekt für unbestimmte Zeit auf Eis legen werde.

Eine konkrete Auflösung der Band sei das noch nicht, allerdings solle man wohl vorerst nicht mit einem Comeback rechnen.

Das Statement von Okilly Dokilly zur anstehenden Pause

„Okilly Dokilly did way more than I ever expected. I’m really grateful for all the people who have been part of it. And especially to everyone who came out to our shows to say howdilly doodilly. We’ve been touring pretty relentlessly since 2016 and, last year, I became a dad. So it’s time for a break. It’s time for me to shave off the Ned mustache and grow the dad mustache.

The ‘Tourdilly Do ‘22‘ tour will serve as a ‘farewell’ tour for the band, as they’re unsure whether or not the hiatus will remain permanent. We just want to let everyone know that we won’t be touring or making any new music in the next few years. I’m not sure if or when we’ll be back, but for now, it’s ‘toodilly do’.“

Hierzulande war die Kombo erst einmal anno 2019 im Rahmen einer kleinen Tour zu sehen.
