Machine Head zeigen ihr Live-Cover zu „In The End“ von Linkin Park

Diese Woche jährt sich der Todestag von Linkin Park-Frontmann Chester Bennington zum dritten Mal. Machine Head-Frontmann Robb Flynn nahm das zum Anlass, den Song „In The End“ zu covern.

Dazu schrieb er auf seinen Socials, dass es ihm egal sei, was die Leute von seiner Cover-Version halten, die die Band nur wenige Tage nach Benningtons Tod live vor Publikum gespielt hat.

Er liebe LP und er sei mehr als schockiert gewesen, als er von Chesters Ableben erfuhr.

„3 years ago we performed this song at my birthday bash after learning of Chester’s horrible death only a couple of days before. We were shocked and saddened, and I think most of us were still recovering from Chris Cornell’s sudden and tragic death, when this came along and hit us like a ton of bricks. I know people are gonna pooh pooh this, but I don’t give a shit. I love Linkin Park, I saw them before the first record even dropped opening for Orgy at the Maritime hall. I saw them almost every time they came to the Bay Area, and they always put on a fantastic fucking show. Played numerous festivals with them, saw them in Paris France doing promotion for the blackening, and I saw them again in Belarus well getting ready to tour for bloodstone and diamonds. I know Chester‘s passing was yesterday, but it seemed appropriate to share this heartfelt cover. Shout out to J-Mac for bringing it on the chorus.“

Der Track stammt vom Debütalbum „Hybrid Theory“, das Linkin Park 2000 auf den Markt brachten. Der Clip zum Song erreichte erst vor kurzem den Meilenstein von einer Milliarde Klicks auf YouTube.

Machine Head wiederum feierten letztes Jahr den 25. Geburtstag ihres Debütalbums „Burn My Eyes“ von 1994. Der zweite Teil der Anniversary-Tour musste hierzulande wegen der Coronakrise bereits auf Oktober verschoben werden.

In Anbetracht des bis mindestens Ende Oktober andauernden Verbots von Großveranstaltungen ist es mehr als nur fraglich, ob die Shows stattfinden. Infos dazu gibt es aber noch nicht.
