Linkin Park: Mike Shinoda über das polarisierendste Album der Band überhaupt
Die Platte spaltete das Fanlager.

2010 brachten Linkin Park ihr Album „A Thousand Suns“ auf den Markt. Die Platte erlangte zwar einen beträchtlichen kommerziellen Erfolg, spaltete das Fanlager jedoch gefühlt entzwei. Mike Shinoda reflektiert die Entwicklung, die die Band und die Community damals mit der Release durchmachten.
In einem Interview mit Anthony Fantano sagte Shinoda, dass die Hälfte der Fans die Platte regelrecht hassten.
„It was very polarising. It got one or five stars by everybody, so we ended up with three-star ratings all over the board because half the people hated it with all of their heart and soul.“

Zehn Jahre später blicke er nun zurück und könne sagen, dass die Scheibe die Beziehung der Band zu den Fans und zum Business im Allgemeinen nachhaltig verändert habe.
„And now we’re at a point where if you ask the average person who’s relatively familiar with the band what their favourite record is, a lot of them say that one. It’s changed, the whole relationship with the band has changed. People go, like, ‘Man, that was like the first album I ever bought, that’s how I learned to play guitar! And then I moved on to guitar that was harder…’“

Bei „A Thousand Suns“ handelt es sich um das vierte Studio-Album von Linkin Park. Mittlerweile kann die Kombo sieben Longplayer ihr Eigen nennen. Zuletzt erschien 2017 die Scheibe „One More Light“. Das Werk erschien nur wenige Monate vor dem Tod von Chester Bennington.
Wie es weitergeht, ist nach wie vor unklar.
