Während das Coronavirus die Wirtschaft weltweit lahmlegt, leidet vor allem auch eine Branche: Die Musikindustrie. Lacuna Coil-Sängerin Cristina Scabbia spricht in einem neuen Interview mit Kerrang! nun ihre Gedanken dazu aus.

Demnach sei es eine sehr düstere Zeit für Musik und Kunst im Allgemeinen. Inbesondere Musiker leben davon, auf Tour zu sein. Die Entscheidung, die Gesundheit aller in den Vordergrund zu stellen sei die einzige richtige in der aktuellen Zeit, breche finanziell aber vielen Bands das Genick.

We are all facing a very strange, never happened before, moment. This virus is NOT like a common flue and spreads FAST. It is crucial now to protect ourselves in order to protect the lives of the loved ones and the weakest ones and to help our health system that is collapsing because there will not be space for everyone soon in health cares. „Yes, it’s a very dark time for music and arts. It is frustrating and it’s sad, but we’re all in the same boat. It is madness because you have to consider that the livelihood of a band now is mostly on the road. That’s where you get the majority of your income, which you need to survive and keep on working.

We were able to think ahead and cancel flights and tours, because we projected the situation. We thought ahead and thought about our health and the health of our friends.

I know other bands that have lost a huge amount of money and it will be hard to get back on track because it will not get back to normal all at once. Fans might not have a lot of money because they didn’t work. It will be really hard but I’m staying positive because once you touch the bottom, you can only go up.“

Durch abgebrochene, verschobene oder abgesagte Touren haben derzeit Bands auf der ganzen Welt zu leiden. Sie versuchen mit Merch oder Musikverkäufen via Bandcamp den finanziellen Verlust wenigstens ein bisschen auszugleichen.
