DragonForce trennen sich von ihrem Bassisten Frédéric Leclercq

Erste Ende letzten Monats haben DragonForce ihr neues Studioalbum „Extreme Power Metal“ angekündigt, nun stehen nicht ganz so erfreuliche Nachrichten ins Haus.

Wie die britische Band jetzt berichtete, habe man sich von Bassist Frédéric Leclercq getrennt. Der Musiker wolle sich auf andere Projekte konzentrieren.

We are sad to announce that Frédéric Leclercq is leaving DragonForce to pursue other projects. We want to thank Fred for all the musical contributions and good times over the years.

Leclercq selbst kommentierte seinen Ausstieg wie folgt:

„I had an amazing opportunity that will be announced soon. There is no bad blood and I wish the band all the best. I want to thank the fans for their support throughout the years.“

DragonForce rekrutieren YouTube-Star für Live-Shows

Für die anstehenden Live-Shows habe man aber schon Ersatz parat. Demnach werde YouTube-Star Steve “Stevie T” Terreberry den Bass zupfen und die Triangel spielen. Eigentlich habe Gitarrist Herman Li den YouTube nur aus Spaß eingeladen, mit DragonForce die Tour zu bestreiten.

Dieser hat die Herausforderung aber ganz ernst genommen. Das „Bewerbungsvideo“ von Stevie T haben wir euch weiter unten zu Verfügung gestellt.

„DragonForce announced on Wednesday that musician and YouTube personality Stevie T (Steve Terreberry) will join the band for the US leg of its upcoming world tour. DragonForce guitarist Herman Li jokingly invited Stevie T to join the band this summer, asking him to play the triangle. Stevie T responded with a video on his YouTube channel, accepting Li’s offer and playing an extended triangle solo to DragonForce’s hit ‚Through the Fire and Flames‘ […]

Stevie T will also step in to play bass for the band, after the departure of bassist Frédéric Leclercq, which was also announced on the band’s website on Wednesday. Leclercq’s last show with DragonForce will be this weekend at Elb-Riot in Hamburg, Germany.“

Nun denn, wir sind gespannt!

Die neue Platte „Extreme Power Metal“ erscheint am 27. September. Mit „Highway To Oblivion“ hat die Band außerdem bereits eine erste Single-Auskopplung veröffentlicht.
