Corey Taylor (Slipknot, Stone Sour) hat sein erstes Solo-Album fertiggestellt

Slipknot– und Stone Sour-Frontmann Corey Taylor verriet bereits vor einiger Zeit, dass er an seinem allerersten Solo-Album arbeitet. Eigentlich war der Plan, dass er die Arbeiten konkret erst nach dem Tourzyklus zum aktuellen Album „We Are Not Your Kind“ von Slipknot aufnimmt, doch dank (in dem Falle wirklich dank!) Corona kam nun alles anders.

Wie der Sänger in einem Gespräch mit Halestorm-Sängerin Lzzy Hale in der Serie Raise Your Horns With Lzzy Hale des YouTube-Channels We Are Hear erzählte, habe er während des Lockdowns sein Album fertiggestellt.

Zusammen mit der Band, die ihn auch auf seinen Solo-Touren in den vergangenen Jahren begleitete, habe er heimlich 25 (!) Songs im Studio aufgenommen.

„I secretly recorded my first solo album. I did with the band I’ve been using for my solo shows for years, and just a bunch of people that I’ve been working with forever. So it’s Jason [Christopher on bass], Dustin [Schoenhofer] on drums, from Walls Of Jericho and countless other things, and [guitarist] Zach Throne, who I’ve been jamming with for a long time, and Tooch [guitarist Christian Martucci], actually, from Stone Sour. All five of us did it. We went in and we recorded 25 songs in about two and a half weeks, and we did everything live. And it’s dope — really, really cool.“

Wann genau wir mit dem Album rechnen dürfen, konnte Corey Taylor noch nicht verraten. Wohl aber gab er einige Details zu den Songs auf preis.

„All the songs are things that I’ve written over the years but they didn’t really fit with either band. So it’s stuff that I’ve just kind of been sitting on. And I realized — I just kind of turned around and I was just, like, ‘Geez, I’ve got all these songs.’ And I’ve been kind of talking about doing a solo album anyway, and I was just, like, ‘This is the perfect time to do it.’ And picking those guys was the perfect combo, ’cause we all just love the same kinds of music — the same kinds of rock, the same kinds of punk, the same kinds of metal, the same kinds of everything — and we all were able to incorporate those influences into everything.“

Das klingt alles mehr als vielversprechend! Wir sind sehr gespannt.

Mit Slipknot brachte Taylor bereits sechs Studioalben auf den Markt, zuletzt vergangenes Jahr die LP „We Are Not Your Kind“.

Auch Stone Sour können auf sechs Longplayer zurückschauen. Die letzte Scheibe „Hydrograd“ erschien 2017. Offiziell befinden sich Stone Sour derzeit in einer Schaffenspause.
