Anthrax: Neues Album befindet sich offiziell in Arbeit

Vier Jahre ist es nun her, dass die Thrash Metal-Legenden von Anthrax ihr aktuelles Album „For All Kings“ auf den Markt gebracht haben. Den Corona-Lockdown nutzte die Kombo jetzt, um die Arbeiten für einen Nachfolger aufzunehmen.

Wie Gitarrist Scott Ian nun in einem Interview mit dem Radiosender SYFYwire verriet, schrieben die Mannen bereits „vor Corona“ neue Musik und wollten diese im Frühjahr dieses Jahres fertigstellen.

Anthrax arbeiten an einem neuen Studioalbum

Der Lockdown führte nun dazu, dass sie anderweitig an ihrem neuen Material feilen mussten: Über die gängigen Videokonferenz-Tools. Es werde dennoch Zeit, dass die Bandmitglieder wieder in einem Raum gemeinsam an neuer Musik arbeiten können.

„We had already started working on stuff with the intent of finishing it up in the spring of this year, and then maybe getting in the studio and either having a record out later this year or early 2021. But obviously all those plans have now changed.

We’ve still been working on stuff through the magic of the internet. We can do a lot over Zoom and FaceTime, sending music back and forth through email. We need to really get in the room and work on the arrangements and really play something 30 times until you really understand it and feel like, ‘OK, this is what this arrangement needs to be. But that’s the holdup at this point. But we certainly have a lot of material, which makes me very excited about when we can actually get in a room together.“

Wir hoffen, dass das bald der Fall ist und wir dann auch schnellstmöglich mit neuer Musik rechnen können.

Die aktuelle Scheibe „For All Kings“ von 2016 markiert das nunmehr elfte Studioalbum von Anthrax. Zuvor erschien 2011 der Longplayer „Worship Music“.

Ihr Debütalbum „Fistful of Metal“ brachte die Kombo aus New York anno 1984 auf den Markt.
