Danny Worsnop (Asking Alexandria) sind die Meinungen zu seinem Solo-Album egal

Vergangene Woche hat Asking Alexandria-Frontmann Danny Worsnop die Veröffentlichung seines dritten Soloalbums für den 10. Mai angekündigt. Zwei Singles namens „Little Did I Know“ und „Best Bad Habit“ hat er als Vorgeschmack darauf ebenfalls veröffentlicht.

Bereits aufs erste Hören wird klar, dass der Sound seiner Solo-Songs weder etwas mit der Musik seiner Band Asking Alexandria gemein haben, noch so klingen wie sein Vorgängeralbum „The Long Road Home“.

Den Kollegen von Kerrang! erzählt Worsnop nun, dass sein neues Werk von allen möglichen Stilen beeinflusst worden sei. Es klinge einfach nach ihm und nicht nach einer bestimmten Musikrichtung.

„It’s just me doing my thing and exploring my potential within my own sound, my own voice and my own songwriting. People have been asking me recently if it’s another country record [like ‚The Long Road Home‘]; in places yes it is, but it’s also a blues record, a rock record, a funk record and a soul record. It is, in its purest form, a Danny Worsnop record. It’s not the sound of a particular genre – it’s the sound of a particular artist.“

Ihm sei bewusst, dass Fans von Asking Alexandria seine Musik als Solokünstler womöglich nicht mögen werden, weil sie letztendlich auch nichts mit seiner Band zu tun hat.

Während er am Anfang noch versucht habe, sich zu rechtfertigen, sei es ihm mittlerweile aber herzlich egal, was die Leute von seiner Musik halten würden. Seine Verlobte Victoria Potter habe ihm dafür den Rücken gestärkt.

„I used to fall for it and feed into it, but in the end Victoria sat me down and said, ‚You’ve got to stop replying to those people, because you’re just encouraging them.’ At this point I have nothing to say to those people. They go out of their way to find things they hate and complain about them on the internet; they have to find something negative to put on other people so that they’re not alone in their misery. Nothing I say is going to change their minds or their attitudes – that’s who they are as people. You go live your miserable fucking lives – I don’t have time to deal with you.“

Das fertige Album „Shades Of Blue“ erscheint bereits m 10. Mai.
